Staatskapitalismus in den »marktliberalen« USA?

Die USA gelten als Paradefall einer marktliberalen Ökonomie, so etwa in der Theorie der Varieties of Capitalism und für eine bestimmte Phase auch in der Regulationstheorie. Inwieweit trifft dies auf den Militärisch-Industriellen Komplex (MIK) – die Verflechtung von Rüstungsindustrie, Militär und Staat – zu? Dies wird auf mehreren Ebenen untersucht: in Bezug auf seine Legitimierung, die Modalitäten der militärischen Beschaffung, die Praxis der Rüstungsexporte, den »Drehtür-Effekt« und die politischen Gegenbewegungen. Im Gegensatz zur Erzählung des Marktliberalismus sind hier Politik und Kapital auf eine Weise verwoben, die von jeher Anklänge an eine Form des Staatskapitalismus aufweist.
