Abstract

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, experts have been puzzling over the reasons for the Russian attack. However, they neglect the internal social dynamics in Russia. This article argues that the Kremlin's increasingly expansive foreign policy is a reaction to the manifold crisis phenomena in the post-Soviet space and in Russia. The article analyzes the post-Soviet crisis phenomena and locates the development of Russia and Ukraine in the region.
