Abstract

Following on from Lise Vogel, this article focuses on a value-theoretical discussion of the reproduction of labour, with the aim of intervening in the current debates on social reproduction. The value-theoretical approach is based on a feminist critique of the political economy and emphasizes the necessity of reproducing the commodity labor force for the capitalist reproduction process. A central finding shows that the rate of exploitation is also regulated by specific reproductive strategies. Class struggles therefore take place not only in the factory, but also in public reproductive sectors like education and health care.
