PROKLA 223 erschienen: Kritik der Geoökonomie

2026-06-01

Law appears to be undergoing renewed and intensified politicization. While the rule of law has traditionally been closely associated with the constitution, political democracy and the protection of minorities, this liberal understanding of law is increasingly being called into question. With the resurgence of authoritarian forces, law itself is increasingly becoming both a target and a site where substantive political conflicts are played out. At the same time, social issues concerning the distribution of income, justice and emancipation are also being addressed through legal struggles. Labour law, for example, is under attack in many parts of the world. Environmental law and the right to a habitable planet have likewise become recurring issues amid multiple, overlapping crises and conflicts. The human rights of women, queer people and trans* people are repeatedly threatened, while rights to mobility and asylum are subject to increasing restrictions—developments that, in turn, generate further legal struggles. PROKLA 224 analyses and brings together existing debates on, and fields of application of, the concept of »legal struggles«.
