Abstract

Starting from a post-election analysis that traces shifts in voting behavior since the 1990s in their historical context, which resulted in the two parties becoming increasingly similar in terms of demographic categories, the article focuses on the shifts in ideologies and interests of both established and emerging capital groups. As the contradictions within the Trump coalition might well shape the options of a Trump 2.0 regime, the text then discusses the positions and expectations of the components of this coalition (the MAGA basis and leaders from relevant industry sectors) in the policy fields of migration/deportations, trade and tariffs, budget deficit, and transforming the state.
