Online event, 27 May 2021: "Green Dew Deal!? How Red is the New Green?"

2021-05-10

On Thursday, 27 May, the editorial team of PROKLA invites you to the online event "Green Dew Deal!? How Red is the New Green?".

The event will take place via zoom from 18:15 to 19:45.

The current issue of PROKLA is dedicated to various concepts of the Green New Deal that have recently gained renewed attention. Even before the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, the worsening of social and ecological crisis phenomena made it increasingly clear that a fundamental social transformation is necessary. Against this background, various concepts of a GND have been developed, especially in the Anglo-Saxon world. But the EU is also tying in with these debates, at least semantically, with the European Green Deal.

But what are the differences between the various GND concepts? What gaps are there in the concepts? Which actors pursue which interests with the GND? What are the implementation perspectives of GND concepts against the background of the Corona pandemic?

Ronja Morgenthaler and Markus Wissen will discuss these and other questions. Ronja Morgenthaler is a political scientist who works at Konzeptwerk Neue Ökonomie in Leipzig and wrote the article "Den Absprung finden. Beyond Capitalism with the Green New Deal?" for the current issue of PROKLA. Markus Wissen teaches and researches social-ecological transformation at the HWR Berlin and is a member of the PROKLA editorial team. The event will be moderated by Marianna Schütt, who is also a member of the PROKLA editorial team.
