Abstract

Das pharmazeutische Forschungs- und Produktionsregime ist strukturell auf Gewinnmaximierung ausgerichtet. Das hat zur Folge, dass bestimmte Bereiche oder Patient*innengruppen mit ihren tatsächlichen oder vermeintlichen Bedarfen fokussiert und andere massiv vernachlässigt werden. Die extremen Ungleichheiten in der Bedarfsdeckung, die bereits vor der Pandemie bestanden, werden durch die Krise noch verschärft. Prozesse der Finanzialisierung führen zu einer weiteren Aufwertung von geistigen Eigentumsrechten und gehen zu Lasten der Verfügbarkeit und Erschwinglichkeit dringend benötigter pharmazeutischer Produkte.
