Abstract

Mass tourism emerged in the 20th century. lts social and economic content has to be analysed in connection with social changes and stratification of capitalist societies in this century. Tourism as a developing strategy for Third World countries is rather problematic: the greater part of income, generated by tourism industries remains in the developed countries from where the tourists start.
